This is the best birding experience that will take you to the western part of Uganda and enjoy the best birding in Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. The birders must have the birders guidebook, and we want to assure you that you will add more birds to your bird species list. This 15-day westly birding safari in Uganda will take you firstly to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens in Entebbe to spot various species of birds, then continue and visit the Mabamba Wetland for the shoe-bill species.
The birding experience will continue to Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and finally Lake Mburo National Park. These destinations are important birding sights, and it is also possible to go birding in these destinations without seeing other primates and wild animals that are found in these parks, including chimpanzees, baboons, and elephants, among others.

15 Days westly birding safari in Uganda
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport: Meet and greet-transfer to Entebbe Botanica Gardens to spot birds
Today is the day when you will arrive at Entebbe International Airport. On your arrival, you will be welcomed by your bird watching safari guide, who will welcome you and brief you about this experience. Once you have finished, you will be transferred to check into your booked lodge-relax and refresh, and if time allows, you will drive to Entebbe Botanical Gardens in Entebbe, where you will be able to see some of the bird species, including the turacos, black winged stilts, sunbirds, hornbills, weavers, and grey parrots. Once your experience is done, you will be transferred back to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay. You can stay at the 2 Friends Beach Hotel or Boma Entebbe.

From lodge go to Mabamba for birding-return to the lodge
Today, wake up and have breakfast. Have your packed lunch and be driven to Mamamba Wetland. You will access the Mabamba wetland through the motorized boat when you enjoy the birding species. different species of birds, such as the shoebill stork, blue-breasted bee-eaters, long-tailed cormorants, squash herons, yellow-billed ducks, malachite kingfishers, long-toed plovers, and long-tailed cormorants. The wetland is so strategically located that it offers a refuge to various species of birds, including the rare Lesser Jacana, African Fish Eagle, Winding Cisticola, Fan-tailed Widowbird, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, and African Pygmy Goose. The rare and elusive Sitatunga Antelope has also been reported here but is difficult to see since it is shy. Chances are high to encounter a la, green-backed woodpecker, crested franklin, emerald-spotted wood dove, brown parrot, and barefaced hornbill as you approach the park. Fly away, bird. Transfer from Entebbe to fort portal for birding
Today you will wake up and have breakfast, and later, you will start your drive to Fort portal to do some bird watching. You will have lunch in Fort Portal, and after lunch you can go ahead with birding to see various birds, including lizard bustards, grey-headed sunbirds, bush shrikes, masked apalis, and many others. These can be found around the Sebitoleko area. Later, you will check into your lodge, and you can stay at Isunga or Chimpanzee Forest Lodge.

Bird watching experience in Kibale forest National Park
Today, wake up early in the morning and have breakfast, and after breakfast, head to Kibale Forest National Park for the bird watching experience. Expect different species, including Narina Trogon, African Emerald Cuckoo, Grey Parrot, Sabine's Spinetail, Black-billed Turaco, Yellow-billed Barbet, and Red-tailed Ant Thrush. Kibale Forest National Park is the haven for bird watching as well as the primate experience safari. After the whole day of birding, retire to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Isunga Safari Lodge or Chimpanzee Forest Lodge.

Birding in Bigodi Swamp and driving to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Bigodi Swamp for morning bird watching and return to the lodge for lunch. Later, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will enjoy the spectacular views of the mountain Rwenzori, and after you have crossed the equator, you can start birding en route to the buffalo lodge where you will stay. Catch up with birds such as Helmeted Guinea Fowl, Red-necked Spurfowl, Great Blue Turaco, Barbets, Tinkerbirds, Kingfishers, Bee Eaters, Cuckoos, Lesser Striped Swallows, Black-lored Babbler, Grey-backed Shrike, and Sunbirds. Later, check in to your Buffalo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Morning birding in Queen Elizabeth National Park and afternoon boat cruise
In the morning, after breakfast, you will start the bird watching activity in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Birding here will be done through the game drives in the Kasenyi Plains, Mweya, and other tracks within the park. After very early birding, you will embark on the afternoon boat cruise, where you will identify several species of water birds. In Queen Elizabeth National Park, expect to see birds such as the African Spoonbill, the White-browed Robin-chat, the Rufous-naped Lark, the Red-chested Sunbird, the Scarlet-chested Sunbird, the Yellow-billed Stork, the Saddle-billed Stork, Shrikes, Weavers, and Finches, among others. Watch out for animals like the warthog, buffalo, elephants, Defassa Water Buck, and Uganda Kob, among others. Later, you will return to the Buffalo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Morning birding and transfer to the Ishasha sector-drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Today, wake up, have breakfast, check out of your lodge, and start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park with your packed lunch. Do birding en route to Bwindi and watch out for Martial Eagle, Francolin, Barbet, Chat, Cuckooshrike, Sunbird, Fork-tailed Drongo, Lark, Pipit, Weaver, and Widowbird. Mammals including Topi, Uganda Kob, Water Buck, Buffaloes, Elephants, Baboons, and more will be on your radar after you have lunch and later transfer to Buhoma. Bird watching experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Today is the day for birding in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the Bhoma Sector. Birding en route to the Ruhija sector for more birding species
Today in the morning, after breakfast, you will transfer to the Ruhija sector of Bwindi to do more birding. As you reach this sector, you will see various birds, including ellow-throated Tinkerbird, Speckled Tinkerbird, Woodpeckers from Tullberg, Elliot's Woodpecker, Buff-spotted Woodpecker, Speckle-breasted Woodpecker, Banded Prinia, Brown-backed Scrub Robin, Black-and-White Shrike Flycatcher, Cassin's Flycatcher, Dusky Blue Flycatcher, Sooty Flycatcher, African Shrike Flycatcher, and a red belly of paradise. Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park; evening birding in Lake Mburo National Park
As you transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, you will go birding in the morning as you drive through the Kigezi highlands' terraced highlands to the broad plains and rocky hillsides of Ankole. You will make some stopovers to capture interesting scenes of the birds and wildlife. You will reach Mbarara town and continue to Lake Mburo, where we will spend the next three nights at Mihingo Lodge. We will have the opportunity to see the magnificent Ankole long-horned cattle up close. Birding in this area is a pleasant experience and frequently one of the highlights of a trip to Uganda for bird watching. Among other birds, keep an eye out for the Augur Buzzard, Crested Francolin, Emerled Spotted Wood Dove, Spot-Flanked Barbet, Bare-Faced Go-Away Bird, Lailac-Breasted Roller, Black-headed Gonolek, and Starlings. Later, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Whole day Lake Mburo bird watching experience
Today is the day when you will enjoy the whole day of birding in the park. The park is full of bird species, including the blue-naped mousebird, black-bellied bustard, brown parrot, larks, African Grey Hornbill, long-tailed Cisticola, and yellow-breasted apalis. Later in the afternoon, you will go on the afternoon boat cruise, where you will look for the African finfoot and other different species. You will look for the other mammals, including zebras, waterbucks, bushbucks, hippos, and bush duikers, among others. You will later return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Another day of bidding in Lake Mburo National Park
Today is yet another birding experience in Lake Mburo National Park, and you will be looking for more birds this time, including the long-tailed cisticola, Brubru, Bateleur, and Bare-faced. Go away bird, fork-tailed drog, among others. Mammals such as the giraffes, eland, topis, and impala can also be seen.

Transfer to Jinja
Today you will wake up and start the drive to Jinja City as you go en route birding. You will make a stopover at Kayabwe to have lunch and later continue with your drive to Jinja to have dinner at your hotel and check in. You can stay at Jinja Nile Resort.

Birding experience in Mabira Forest Reserve
On our final birding day, we visit the Mabira Central Forest Reserve, where we shall enjoy a variety of bird species, including White-spotted Flufftail, Great Blue Turaco, Sabine's Spaintail, Forest Wood Hoopoe, Crowned Hornbill, African Pied Hornbill, Tinkerbirds and Barbets, Woodpeckers, Greenbuls, Brown and Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Forest Robin, Fire-crested Alethe, and Green Hylia, among others. Later, you will transfer to Entebbe at your booked hotel. You can stay at the Boma Hotel or the 2 Friends Beach Hotel.
